Shop n Save in South Fayette, Pennsylvania: A Great Shopping Experience

Shop n Save is a major grocery store chain in the Pittsburgh area. Having worked at the South Fayette Shop n Save for 2 years, I know the ins and outs of the store. If you shop here, you are just about guaranteed a pleasant shopping experience every time you walk through the doors. There are many reasons why you should visit South Fayette Shop n Save.

Customer Service

Customers are #1 in the eyes of the employees at Shop n Save. They will make sure that you are satisfied. On rainy days, you'll see several of the guys outside with umbrellas, ready to help you to your car so that you don't get soaked head to toe. I've never seen this service at any other grocery store in the area. It's a nice service, especially if you have a cart full of groceries that you need to load into your car.

Bakery

South Fayette Shop n Save has a wonderful bakery. All of the baked goods and breads are very neat and organized, and easy to find. The cakes are one of a kind. You can purchase cakes for any occasion, even weddings. Shop n Save can make your wedding cake look perfect, and taste delicious too, for a very affordable price. All of their baked goods are always fresh and delicious. They have a wide variety of baked breads, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, bagels, donuts, pies and other sweets to indulge in. The bakery workers are always so friendly too.

Coffee Shop

Beside the bakery, you'll find the coffee shop. This is a nice place to sit down and have a cup of coffee with a friend, or to sit and read a magazine. I always sat in the coffee shop on my lunch break, because it's a nice atmosphere. You can get different types of coffee, tea, popcorn and even ice cream at the coffee shop.

Deli, Seafood and Meat Department

All of the products from the deli, seafood and meat department are always fresh. You can get meat specials anytime, called �â'¬Å"Pick 5 for 19.95�â'¬ï¿½. This means you can pick 5 packages of meat for only $20. With this special, you can choose from ground meat, chicken breasts, steaks, stew meat and more. This is a great deal that I always take advantage of. The deli has a wide variety of lunch meats and prepared foods. The prepared foods make great dinner ideas, especially if you are coming home from a long day at work and don't feel like cooking. You can find a whole roasted chicken for only $4.99. In prepared foods, you can find a bunch of different sides to go along with it. This would be great for lunch too. Next to the deli, you'll find a selection of hoagies, salads, pepperoni rolls and other lunch and appetizer foods. There is a soup counter, with several different types of soup to choose from. The soup can be accompanied by fresh bread and crackers, which is available right there. You'll also find an entire section of different cheeses from around the world. Last but not least, you'll find a great seafood selection, everything from shrimp, fresh fish, crab meat, scallops and even a live lobster tank.

Liquor Store

South Fayette Shop n Save was the first in the Pittsburgh area to have its own liquor store inside. It's not owned by Shop n Save, it's its own store. The liquor store is separate from the grocery store, but it's connected so that you can easily access it from the inside of the store. You can find the liquor store next to the produce section, beside the Floral Shop.

Floral Shop

The South Fayette Floral Shop is one of a kind. The current location of the floral shop is an addition that was added a couple years ago. I'm always happy with the floral arrangements from the girls at the floral shop. Anytime I need to buy flowers, South Fayette Floral Shop is my first stop, and I would never go anywhere else. As one of Pittsburgh's top florists, the floral shop has done numerous weddings as well. A lot of brides have gone there for their wedding flowers, because of their excellent reputation. I would recommend South Fayette Floral Shop to anybody who wants a great floral arrangement, especially for their wedding.

Pharmacy

Like a lot of other grocery stores, you'll find a pharmacy inside South Fayette Shop n Save, right between the Floral Shop and National City Bank.

National City Bank

I think the idea of having a bank inside a grocery store is great. This National City bank is open later than the outside branches, normally until 8 pm on weekdays. It's even open on Sundays. It's a full service bank with 5 teller stations and everything you would find at an outside branch. There are 2 ATMs for the bank; one in the inside of the store, and one on the outside of the store. This is very convenient, especially for people who don't get off work until late, and can't make it to the bank that closes at 4.

Dry Cleaning

The dry cleaning service is another convenient service at Shop n Save. You can drop off your clothes at the dry cleaning counter, then all of your clothes will be dropped off at Fi-Del Cleaners in Bridgeville. There are always specials for dry cleaning services, so check the signs in the store for discounts.

Shop n Save Perks

Like all other Shop n Save stores, South Fayette participates in the Perks program. You may have been familiar with the old Rewards program, where you could gain points for the foods you bought, and then redeem the points for money off of your order. Now, Shop n Save has the Perks program, which is similar to Giant Eagle's Fuel Perks program. For every $50 you spend, you will get 10 cents off per gallon of gas. This can really add up if you shop here a lot. You could even get a free gallon of gas!

Self Checkouts

This is one of my favorite features of any grocery store. Sometimes, you just don't want to deal with the cashier. That might sound rude, but really, you might just not be in the mood to talk to someone. If you'd rather just do everything yourself, than self checkouts may be for you. All you have to do is scan your own items, then pay. All of your options are on a touch screen, which is very easy to use.

Sales!

South Fayette Shop n Save always has �â'¬Å"2 Day Sales�â'¬ï¿½ going on, or �â'¬Å"Madness Sales�â'¬ï¿½ as they used to be called. They have them about once per month, and you'll see big signs by the parking lot telling you about the sales. During these big sales, a lot of items throughout the store are cheap. For example, you can find deli meats for as low as $2.79 per pound, or baked goods for 98 cents. Faygo pop, bottled water, chips, paper towels, frozen foods, eggs and more are among other items that are usually on sale. Next time you see signs, stop in to take advantage of one of these great 2 Day Sales!

Overall, South Fayette Shop n Save is one of the best grocery stores in the area, in my opinion. It is run by wonderful friendly people, and the cashiers and baggers are always so nice and helpful. A lot of things have changed since I worked there, only for the better. Shop n Save in South Fayette is a great place to work part time after school, like I did, or even full time.
