Sorry ladies but we are the ones that are targeted the most for this type of addiction guessing that most if not all women love to shop. Compulsive shopping have been studied that it is cause mostly when a person is stressed, depressed, or feeling of loneliness the high of shopping make them feel better at the time but when you are done you will feel worse. It's like the overweight individual that will binge eat to feel better, but after the food is gone you begin to feel bad again this is exactly how a shopping addiction is and most times the shopper will begin to shop again because it fulfills what that are lacking, or sad about at the time but the high of shopping is only for the moment.
Most shopping addicts want admit that they have a problem because they are not aware of how much they are spending even when they can see that they can no longer pay any of their bills on time if at all depending on how far the addiction has gone. Compulsive shopper will buy lots of unnecessary nothing of which they truly don't need use so If you are aware of someone that may be in a situation similar, or very close to what I have just said you might want to reach out to them because as simple as shopping seems it really can be a very bad addiction. Somehow get that person to seek counseling some area depending on where you live have different types of self help groups this will help the person to release there issues and teach them how to budget again.
There is hope for people that are addicted to shopping they will have to start off slow use a pre- paid debit card, or cash never a credit card. It would be best not to watch all of the at home shopping channels, or go to the major discount stores this will be a bit of temptation. Always go to the store with a list and get only what is on the list if you don't trust yourself alone then take a friend of relative for support. This want last forever but for the time being starting slow is best because you wouldn't want to be in debt all your life and making life miserable for others around because you have a problem that you want fix. There is help out there and remember that if you know someone that could be heading that direction begin to help them before it get any worse.
