Shopping for a Baby

Ashley Noble
Having a baby is such an exciting time. Its also an overwhelming time. Not only does your body change dramatically but so does your saving account and space in your home.

There is so much do to, purchase, and plan for.

I have put together a list of must have items and the items that are not necessary, but will make your life easier.

In no particular order, here is a great list to take with you shopping.

Diaper Bag- Get a sturdy one, you will use it for awhile and it will be with you almost everywhere you go. Black is such a classic look and it hides the stains well.

Crib- This is a must have, unless you plan on co-sleeping.

Dresser- Of course you need a place to store all those cute clothes you get.

Changing table- While its not a necessity, its nice to have around and you can get a nice one for under $100.

Mattress pads- for all those little leaks in the middle of the night

Crib Mattress- your little one needs a comfy place to sleep

Rocking Chair- Great for middle of the night feedings

Play-yard- always comes in handy

Swing- gives you a free moment to pick up the house and entertains your baby

Bouncer- again, great for entertainment for the little one

High chair- sure beats holding them in your lap while feeding them peas that they keep spitting out.

Stroller/Car Seat Combo- No need to explain that one. Both are a MUST have!

Bottles- Because babies like to eat eat and eat! Great to have one or two on hand even if you are a breastfeeding mom.

Pump- to breastfeed and let Dad feed too

Bumbo- great for teaching your little one to sit up. Nice change of pace for them.

Diapers- Lots and lots of them

Wipes- To clean their little bums!

Boppy- Wonderful to do tummy time or to assist while feeding. Both bottle and breast.

Diaper rash cream- you can never have enough of this either.

Baby monitors- To wake you up all night long. =)

Lamp- Sure beats turning on the overhead light and waking your baby up at night. Keeps the mood calm for the 2am feeding.

Extra sheets- So you don't have to worry about throwing one that has poop all over it in the washer in the middle of the night.

Batteries- Just plan on picking up every size battery. You'll need them all for a toy, activity mat, swing, etc.

Nursing Bra and or Tank- Great for the breastfeeding mommas

Nipple cream- to help in the early days of latch issues.

Safety kit- Containing nail clippers, nail file, thermometer, and boogie sucker (bulb syringe/nasal aspirator)

I hope this list helps you out in your shopping trip! Congrats if you are expecting.
