Shopping for College: Eureka 96 B Quick Up Upright Cordless Stick Vacuum Review

As college students spend the summer shopping for things to bring back to school with them, many will wonder which vacuum to purchase to keep their dorm room clean. A small stick vacuum is great for dorms and small apartments because it can fit in the corner of a closet or under the bed when there is not much room for storage. I suggest the Eureka 96 B Quick Up Upright Cordless Stick Vacuum. This vacuum can be purchased from amazon.com for about $70. The price also fits into many college students' budgets.

Besides being small and light, my favorite feature of this vacuum is that it does not have a power cord. It runs off a battery pack so you can quickly take it wherever you need to vacuum and use it right away. There's a wall-mounting rack that attaches to the power source if you'd like to hang it on the wall to get it out of the way. I find that once the battery is fully charged I can usually vacuum about two rooms (15 minutes) with it before it starts to die and needs to be recharged. There's a light on the device so you know when it is fully charged.

The vacuum can be used on hard floors or carpet which makes it versatile for the different surfaces you may have in your room. I find that it picks up dirt on hard floors surprisingly well compared to more traditional vacuums.

The product doesn't have any bags so you will not need to purchase replacement ones when it is full of dirt. You just need to pop the dirt collecting cup out and dump it in the garbage. I appreciate this because it saves time and money for finding replacement bags.

Another neat feature of the vacuum is that the handle comes off so you can use it more like a dust buster to get into smaller areas. This definitely comes in handy because there are a lot of small spaces in dorm rooms.

I've recently begun using mine in my first apartment and find that it does a great job in the kitchen to pick up crumbs. It cleans the floor so much faster than a broom and dust pan would. It's also good at picking up my long hair off the bathroom floor.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised how well this vacuum works. It is surprisingly powerful for a cordless vacuum and has been keeping my dorm rooms and apartment clean for 3 years now.
