Shopping Guide: Buying Gift Cards

B.C.Hill
I think gift cards make great gifts. I know there are some out there who say gift cards are "no thought" gifts. I don't agreee with this at all! Gift Cards are simple, easy to use, and they are just as good as cash. They are also a safe way to make purchases because when you make a purchase with a gift card, the transaction activity has nothing to do with your own personal bank account. Here are some great ideas I think gift cards are perfect for.

Book Store - Those who read a lot know the value of a good book.

Restaurant / Food - "Put that on my gift card waiter"

Fuel - Would'nt it had been great if you had one of these when gas was close to $4

Home Improvement - You never know when that light bulb is going to go out.

Grocery - We got to eat and babies need their milk.

Electronics - We live in a technological world.

Specialty Stores - Ice Cream Parlors and Coffee Shops have good treats.

Now after you purchase that gift card make sure you note if there are fees, expiration dates, and all terms and conditions of the gift card. There are consumer protection laws that protect gift card holders. Laws vary by state. I would suggest gift card holders spend the gift card within 6 months or less. I say that because a lot of the companies we see today, may not be around in the near future. Use it or lose it!
