A woman with a petite figure is just that, petite. If you are a bit lower to the ground, so to speak, and just rather small in general, you have a petite figure. I am only 5'4" and let me tell you this is a challenging figure to find suitable attire for. With this guide in hand when you are out shopping for your personal fashion pieces, it will be much easier to choose flattering attire.

The first thing I am going to say about shopping for this body type is, "Heels Ladies." I would try to select versions with a platform; even a small one will add more height. Heels are great for adding height but they can also make a women feel taller as well as more confident or even powerful.

The best skirt for a petite woman is a pencil skirt, as it can add the illusion of more height. The straight lines on this skirt create the height illusion so make sure this skirt fits very well. Also choose bottoms with a high rise waist. This will help to add length to your legs.

Vertical accents worn on top are a must for us shorter ladies. Long necklaces and tops with vertical ruffles are wonderful pieces to choose as they will help to lengthen your torso. Also a good pair of drop waisted bottoms will do this just as well.

When choosing jackets, always pick form fitted tailored jackets and have the jackets further tailored to fit you perfectly. Try finding cute ones with bracelet sleeves as this adds length to your arms.

Dresses may be the hardest item to shop for when it comes to us petite ladies. Choose classic sheaths or other styles that come straight down no lower than your knees. A structured straight dress is always the best for adding height. And again, make sure that it fits well.

Simple and classic styles that are structured and feminine colors are the best choices for us petite ladies. Anything to frilly or boldly printed will overwhelm us. After all, we want our clothes to accent who we are, not hide us completely. So go with feminine colors as well as solid dark colors.

When shopping for any type of clothing, keep in mind that form fitting clothes are the best. Baggy clothes will only serve to hide our bodies. Every petite woman should seek out a gifted tailor, as form fitting clothes are hard to come by and highly necessary for us.
