Shopping at the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets - Michigan City, Indiana

A Review of the Stores at the Lighthouse Mall

On a recent trip to Chicago, my boyfriend Dan and I decided to make a trip to Michigan City, Indiana to meet up with my aunt and uncle. We agreed to get together at the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlet mall for some shopping and visiting. We wanted to get the most out of our day, so we got an early start on the hour long drive.

We got there a little early, so we stopped for a cappuccino at the Bristol Cafe. It was already starting to get hot outside, so we sat down in the shade to wait for my family to arrive. Then I took a drink of my cappuccino--too early--and fried my taste buds. Oh, well, it wasn't that great, anyway.

After they arrived, we decided to just start on one end and walk from store to store. I was looking for a few items, including work clothes and shoes, which I wasn't able to find at Old Navy or GAP Outlet. There were a few things I liked, but nothing I needed--it seems like everything is too "trendy" these days, and it's nearly impossible to find classic work clothing.

At least we were able to find a couple cute baby outfits at GAP Outlet Kids & Baby. We got one for my aunt's new baby, and one for Dan's new nephew. But by the time we finished there, I was absolutely starving. Plus, it was getting warmer and I was ready to cool off.

We got lunch at Subway in the outlet mall, where the employees messed up our order. They were extremely busy, though, so I didn't get upset about it. It was getting crowded inside the building, so we went outside to enjoy our food at their outdoor picnic tables.

After lunch, my aunt and I visited Toys R Us with her two kids. There were all kinds of things a kid dreamed of playing with, but my little cousin is the only one who went home with anything from the toy store.

I still didn't find anything I was looking for, until we got to the Dressbarn. I always enjoy shopping there--they have some nice clothes, as well as good deals. I found a nice work dress and a shirt that I could also wear to work. I was happy with just those two items, until we decided to get dressed up and go on a nice date later that night.

So I had to find some shoes to go with my dress, and something nice for Dan to wear. We tried a few shoe stores, but I couldn't find anything I liked. Finally, we ended up at Naturalizer. They had way too many shoes to choose from, but finally I decided on a pair that looked great with my dress, and were comfortable enough to wear at work.

I had sent Dan off to look for something to wear that night, and met up with him when he called from Van Heusen. He had found some really great prices--some items had triple savings--so he bought a few button up shirts. I couldn't resist the savings either, so I bought a pair of work pants (which fit when I tried them on, but are too short with shoes).

We said good-bye, and headed back to Chicago. Our shopping trip to the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets was definitely worth our while. Not only did I get to see my aunt, uncle, and little cousins, but I went home with some new clothes. And that's a good feeling.
