Owners of the Fort Calhoun Nebraska nuclear power plant told management to "buy whatever they need" to ward off floodwaters.
So if you were sending your crack crew of nuke operators down to Home Depot to pick up some stuff to save the plant, what kind of list would you give them?
What do you say we give them some suggestions, since they don't seem to have been doing much planning for this eventuality.
HOME DEPOT LIST TO SAVE THE NUKE
First of all on the list...some of those big blue tarps, and a bunch of bungee cords to hold 'em down...in fact get every bungee cord they have on the shelf, and rope...you can't have too much rope.
Oh, and you better throw some of those high rubber wading boots in the cart, and maybe some rubber gloves too. You never know what that water is like when it's been sloshing around in a containment building all day.
And a sump pump...no, two or three! And get the good ones, with the automatic switch, so they'll start pumping even if the management is asleep.
You better get one of those flatbed carts with six woggly wheels, Bubba. This list is growing fast.
Towels and Mops! Holy smoke, we better get a bunch of paper towels...those Brawny ones...the quicker picker-upper. Take all the ones on the shelf and ask if they can use that lifty-thingy to get another case down from those shelves up near the ceiling.
We're going to need a bunch of hoses too, to pump the water from the sump-pump to.....OMG where are we going to pump this water TO anyway...Kansas?
OK, you're probably going to need to take the big truck, and maybe stop at the marina and see if you can buy a raft, and some paddles. Or maybe stop at the pool supply and get some of those noodly water floaty things.
And guys, we need you back here soon with all this stuff...it's starting to look like a Fukushima nightmare around here!

Post a CommentStupid sarcasm by a know nothing! France has a huge number of nuclear power plants and no disasters. The only one was in the Soviet Union.
A sane species wouldn't build nuclear plants near quaking fault lines, flood plains, large cities, rivers, hurricane zones and tornado alleys whose storms will increase in frequency and severity with climate change. Actually, a sane species wouldn't build them at all.
