In US, the tradition of having baby shower before baby arrives is such a blessing as you can register for baby stores and your relatives and friends buy you what you actually need. Not all countries, like in European countries have this sort of tradition.
When I had my baby shower, I was happy to see smiling faces of my friends and family and also I was so pleased to receive all sorts of gifts for my little baby girl who was going to be in my arms very soon.
Yes, I was excited as a new-mom-to-be and I wanted to make sure I have all basic needs of my baby taken care of. A Huggies brand name lavender and chamomile scented disposable washcloths were all I needed for my baby till her umbilical cord falls of. Just wetting those Huggies disposable washcloths and rubbing the baby's body with them was enough to keep my baby little girl clean for nearly first 2 weeks of her life. I did not need the smell of lavender and chamomile, as I liked my baby's smell better. Her smell was a mixture of spitting, poo and pee, dirty diapers, diaper rash cream, little bit of sweat. I was upset that there was no way of storing her smell of all those mix.
After your baby's umbilical cord falls off, you can actually start bathing your baby. I have chosen to use Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash, Lotion and Shampoo and a Fisher Price bathtub and a sponge for her bathing needs. Balmex diaper rash cream was all I needed after bath and after each diaper change to use.
As I found out, it is such a special experience to bath a baby as well as it is very scary to hold and safely keep a very tiny baby when you bath. You will need help; at least 2 people should bath a newborn baby. Most of the babies love water and bathing as my baby girl does too. When we put her into Fisher Price bathtub in blue color, and pour some warm water, she stops crying instantly. Warm water and a soothing touch-bath time is a wonderful time to bond with your baby. Pour Johnson's Head-to-toe babywash on a soft washcloth and gently massage onto her skin and hair. Lather, rinse, and enjoy this special moment together. The Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash makes her skin very smooth after the bath and the smell of Johnson and Johnson shampoo is very delicious.
Who does not like to be clean? Even the babies love to be clean. You don't need many things to buy to make those special bath times even more memorable and adding such unforgettable smells into your memory.
