Where to Find Organic Food in Harlem

Damaa Bell
Organic Forever
2035 Frederick Douglass Blvd. between 111-112 Street
New York, NY 10026
(212) 666-3012
Mon-Fri 9:00 am - 9:00 pm
Sat 10:00 am - 8:00 pm
Sun 11:00 am - 7:00 pm

Organic Forever was one of the first mid-size markets to focus on serving organic food in Harlem. There had been smaller reputable health food stores in the neighborhood, but Organic Forever was a one-stop shop of sorts for the health conscious set. They offer a juice bar, fresh produce, dry items sold in bulk, and assorted and sundry items related to healthy living.

Karrot
304 West 117th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd.
New York, NY 10026
(212) 870-0290
Monday-Saturday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm
Sunday 9:00 am to 7:30 pm

Tucked away on a side street just off of Frederick Douglass Boulevard is a mid-size health food store that sells wholesome and organic grocery items, has a decent frozen food section, and sells fresh juices, smoothies, and wheat grass. Unfortunately, Karrot falls flat when it comes to providing fresh produce.

Wild Olive
10 East 125th Street between Fifth Ave & Madison Ave
New York, NY 10035
(212) 369-2665
Mon-Sun 7:00 am - 9:00 pm

Wild Olive is the newest addition to Harlem's mid-size organic store collection. One thing that stands out about Wild Olive is its selection of fresh produce that is very reasonably priced. There is also a variety of organic and name brand food available at different price points, but most are very competitive with other markets. In addition to the grocery section, Wild Olive has a meat and fish section. Wild Olive should definitely be a first stop when looking for fresh produce in Harlem.
