Do you like to go shopping? If you do, then you probably also like a bargain. If you break out into a cold sweat and your hands start to tremble when you learn that there is a special sale at your favorite department store then my friend you are in for a fantastic treat when you discover any major cities' wholesale district.
Cities like Los Angeles, New York and Chicago all have large shopping districts where merchants go to find the items they sell in their shops. Of course these merchants get wholesale merchandise and sell it retail.
What many consumers do not realize is that the wholesalers are usually more than happy to sell to the public also. When you visit your wholesale district you will notice business men in suits standing side by side with moms and dads all doing the same thing, that is, looking for deals. The businessmen are looking for deals on merchandise they can resell from their shops and the moms and dads are looking for ways to stretch their family budget by finding shoes, clothing and toys for their children at wholesale prices.
As might be expected the business man that buys a gross of something (144 items) Is going to get a better deal than the frugal shopper who is only going to buy one item. However the shopper buying one will still get a better deal then she would if she bought the same item at a retail outlet.
There are several ways to get an even better deal in some wholesale warehouses and stores. One way is to ask for the price for one half dozen or one dozen. You will find that the price drops drastically when you buy one half dozen or one dozen of something.
"I don't need a dozen" you say. Well, you don't need a dozen of any one item but do you have family or friends or neighbors that might be in the market for what you are buying?
An example of this would be mp3 and mp4 players. In a wholesale shop you might be able to buy one mp3 player for $99.00. You can find this same player in a retail outlet for $125.00. Not a bargain to write home about but it is a better deal to get it wholesale.
Now think of this. (and this is a real example) Ask the owner or manager of the wholesale establishment, "how much for one dozen?" you will find that the price will come down drastically. In my real life example the price came down to $67.00 for each unit.
With the Mp3 and MP4 players being so popular you probably wouldn't have much trouble at all finding 11 other people who would want one at this price. Get some commitments or better get the money up front and buy one dozen.
This little exercise in, "buy wholesale and sell wholesale" did two things for you. It got you a great deal on something you wanted and it let you indulge in one of your favorite pastimes, shopping.
Yes the wholesale districts in major cities can prove to be a wonderful shopping experience for you. I know it is for me.
