Genesis: The book of Genesis is primarily a historical account of God's creation of the universe as well as, His creation of mankind. Genesis gave a broad historical record of how God created life in every living thing from plants to mankind and with mankind's introduction to sin with Adam and Eve this led to God's anger against His own creation with the exception of only one man, Noah, along with his family who had found grace in the sight of God and were given instructions to survive the world flood. Through historical narratives Genesis is a book of beginnings starting with:
The creation: Chapters 1-2Then to the first sin: Chapters 3-5
The first survivor of sin Chapters 6-7
Then the new beginning Chapters 8-10
Later in Genesis we see the first rebellion at the tower of Babel and then the rest is a historical overview of the jewish nation with the introduction of a covenant blood line of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. The Author for the book of Genesis through Biblical history has been credited to Moses. The assumed time period would be between 1440 and 1400 B.C. which would be the Mosaic time period that Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt.
