Short Summary of the Book of Psalms

Randy Jones
Psalms:The book of Psalms clearly covers several genre's in relation to God, war, worship, sin, wisdom, creation, and even the coming Messiah. It is clear that even though David is given most credit for the authorship of Psalms, if one looks at the messages there are as well certain psalms from Solomon as well as Moses along with a few other author's.

The entire book of Psalms is a collection of poetry, prayers, and hymns that are primarily expressed through the writer's thoughts or worship at the time. The oldest recorded psalm is chapter (90) written by Moses as to the frailty of men, and the latest psalm would probably be (137) a lament during the days the Hebrews were held captive by the Babylonians. Some parts of the book of Psalms were used as hymnals in worship services in ancient Israel which gives us a large historical reference of centuries to relate the actual writings and their authors.
