When I first walked in I was a tad confused. I saw several jars of dried fruit and candy, and glasses filled with ice cream tubs. It looked very much like an ice cream shop and for a moment I thought it was, until I looked up and saw the menu for their boba teas and slushies. I found the staff there to be very friendly and upbeat. The greeted me with a smile and a 'Hi' the moment I walked in. Once it was clear to me that they had what I've been craving I ordered and looked around the shop. I noticed that it was pretty packed, there weren't many empty seats but the crowd was a mixture of young and older folks. Typically the people I see hang out boba shops are teens and twenty somethings, but the crowd in this shop looked more around my parents age.
The décor was fun and cute, very Japanese school girl cute. Even their bathrooms were decorated in a cutesy way with little duckies and what looked like little hand prints. I liked that Short & Sweet were selling healthy snacks like dried fruit and frozen yogurt. It had a hang-out-here kind of vibe. There were lots of magazines and board games on a shelf available for customers.
As for my boba tea, I was very pleased with it and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact it was practically all gone before I even made it to my car. It's hard to believe but I've had some bad boba tea before, either it was too watered down by the ice, not enough tapioca balls or too much or just plain bland. My boba tea tasted perfect and so were the tapioca balls. The only downside to it all is that although they do accept credit card, it's a $10 minimum to use it.
Short & Sweet is a one of a kind boba tea shop in my book. If the rest of their products are as delicious as their boba tea I'll definitely be visiting again. It's a great place for people of all ages but kids will really love it for it's fun décor and atmosphere.
