I prefer organic foods over conventional foods. But that is my personal experience. Yu should decide by yourself once you do your homework and research the issue. Research on organic foods is still preeliminary and non conclussive. Investigate both pro organic food arguments and try to invvestigate about the against organic movement. Then make your decision.

Also, you should now that there is mid point possibility. Safe handling and cooking profusely your food can reduce the chances of food poisoning, regardless of what products you choose. If you do not want to go to the extreme of buying all organic foods (more expensive) you can take some actions such as the mentioned above. Also, buy domestic foods rather than imported food since it is said that impored food is more contaminated than domestic food (well, who really knows but that is what experts say.

There are certain foods that are highly contaminated with pesticides and chemical. Maybe you could buy those organics and still buy other "less"contaminated conventional foods. The most contaminated foods that you should buy organic (if you decide so) are: peaches, strawberries, apples, nectarines, pears, cherries, red raspberries, spinach, celery, potatoes, and bell peppers. Thes are highly contaminated according to the United States Department of Agriculture ( USDA ).

Eliminate the skin of fruits and you will be reducing the risk of pesticide consumption by 85-90% since all the chemicals are on the surface or immediately below the fruit skin. In green vegetables, like spinach, that is not possible, so wash it througly.

The controversy of organic vs conventional will continue until more conclusive results are obtained. In the meantime follow the simple tips mentioned in this article and you can be reducing significantly pesticide and chemical ingestion.
