I don't know about you the reader but I'm very angry at the current price of gas. I'm also not happy with our government's actions nor our corporate citizen's response to the potential problems that could occur if gas continues to rise. Already I'm hearing about people who are quiting jobs that require long drive times to get back and forth from. I can foresee a point in the future where the price of gas could become a national security threat due to the potential to devastate the national economy to the point it would take a century to recover from. There is a way to fight back though for a few of you. Buy a Tesla Roadster vehicle and ride around on one hundred percent electricity.

The Tesla Roadster is probably the best totally electrical car in production today. Made by the Tesla Motor corporation based out of California, USA, the 2009 Tesla Roadster simply has to be seen to be believed. It is a gorgeous sports car whom the Tesla Motor corporation claims has a range of 227 miles with a 248 peek horsepower engine that will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 125 mph. The spec sheet also claims that the car can be recharged in as little as 3.5 hours from a completely drained state. At the current price of gas if you take into consideration the average price of electricity this car gets about 175 mpg.

The Tesla Motors corporation claims this amazing performance all starts with its three phase, four pole electric motor that has a eighty percent efficiency at peak power and a stunning ninety percent efficiency on average. Various other technological marvels meld together perfectly to create the stunning finished product called the Tesla Roadster.

Buying a Tesla Roadster is a study in patience however. The 2009 production run is set up for made to order purchases with a average waiting period of six to nine months. Not to mention buying a Tesla Roadster will set you back a pretty penny as well. Reserving a Tesla Roadster is quite easy but requires a $5000 refundable reservation fee to start the process that locks you in at the current price. Overall if you have the money the vehicle is definitely worth purchasing and I strongly suggest you check out their website for yourself.

I work for ZAP and keep reading about Tesla. It is a distinctly beautiful car and I can only imagine the performance having driven some of the forerunners of this design. I own and drive a Xebra right now. Just wondering what the cost basis is for your MPG figure? Our baseline testing of the Xebra on a BTU basis is 146 MPG, but I know that can be dramatically different based on a cost basis. Also, if the Tesla Roadster is the best electric car for purchase today... on what criteria do you base this assessment?
