Should the Celtics Trade Ray Allen

Should the Celtics trade Ray Allen? Celtic fans will say this is the team to beat once they get healthy but what if they don't get healthy? It is a possibility and something to be concern about since the Celtics have one of the biggest expiring contracts in the NBA, and with teams wanting cap space for one of the biggest free agent pools this summer plenty of teams will line up for a expiring contract like that. If the Celtics do trade Ray Allen they may lose a future hall of famer but with the right mix of contracts and talent they could be building the future now instead of falling back into mediocrity once the big three retire or even as early as next year if they cannot perform like they did after they return from injury. So if the Celtics do decide to trade Ray Allen who should they try to get? Granted these deals below are not being talked about but it is fun to discuss.

Here is an idea trade Ray Allen along with a first round draft to the Golden State Warriors for Monte Ellis and Ronny Turiaf. The Golden State Warriors lower their cap and get a chance to start over while getting an all star shooting guard which should bring some wins. The Celtics get an explosive scorer and a good defender in Ronny Turiaf the question is would either team be willing to do this? I think so it depends on the Warriors mindset at the moment and if the Celtics feel like the end is coming for the big 3.

Here is another trade idea once again the Celtics trade Ray Allen but this time to the Sacramento Kings for Kevin Martin and Andres Nocioni. In this trade the Celtics once again gets a young shooting guard and a good defender while the Kings get a star in Ray Allen get rid of Nocioni contract and get even more cap space to spend this summer. On top of all that if it works out they can resign Ray Allen for a much smaller deal add in some second tier free agents and the Kings could become contenders as soon as next season. Both teams win in this trade unlike the last one when the Celtics got the better deal.

The last trade is if the Celtics feel that the end is getting near and think that it is better to kind of start over now. The Celtics trade Ray Allen to the Knicks for up and coming Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Jordon Hill, Nate Robinson and defender Jared Jeffries. The Knicks get cap relief and a fresh start while the Celtics get young talent and a good defender and depending on how the talent meshes they could still be contenders. Granted this is the more risky trade than the other two but there is great upside to it.

With the three trades mention the second one is the most likely to go down if a trade happens it is up the Celtics to figure out how much longer this team has.
