Should Companies Put Scripture on Their Products?

More and More Firms Place Biblical Text on Their Wares

I love to read.

I read blogs all day long. I read magazines, I read my local Akron-Beacon Journal when I'm pulling up to my daughter's school.

When there's nothing else around me to read, or I've left my Bible somewhere out of arm's distance near my bathtub, or on the odd occasion when I'm in the shower stalling as my hair conditioner conditions, I'll read shampoo bottles.

Imagine my surprise when reading jars of some of my favorite hair products, I found Scripture.

"And he shall be like a tree planted by the streams of water," I think it said. "That bringeth forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also doth not wither. And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Imagine my delight when I found this quote on a site sponsoring this post selling soy candles:

To everything there is a Season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven. - ECCLESIASTES 3:1

Firms like that usually get my attention. And many times, my business.

What can I say? Like Bishop T.D. Jakes proclaims, "Favor ain't fair!"
