People celebrate Mother's Day in many different ways. Some give their mother a special gift. Some send their mothers flowers. Others take their mother out for a special dinner. Most mothers wear a special corsage on this day. Some churches hold special services that honor the mothers in the congregation. Some give prizes for the oldest mothers, the newest mothers, and the mothers with the most children. No matter what you do, your mother likely deserves pampering on this day.
By definition we think of a mother as being a person who has a child. This may be a stepmother, a mother who has adopted children, or even a godmother. But what about the first time mothers to be?
Should first time expecting moms be included in the Mother's Day celebration?
I think that many would argue this question in both directions. Some believe that the child should actually be born before a person is considered to be a mother. The woman must actually be the caregiver. Others feel that a woman becomes a mother as soon as the baby is conceived.
I have heard of husbands buying gifts for their first time expecting wives. I have also heard of the holiday passing by and these women receiving no recognition.
However, I do think that the cards companies have created a Mother's Day card for expecting moms along with any other possible kind of mom out there.
Personally, I lean more to the side that an expecting woman is a mother. She immediately creates a bond with the baby as soon as she discovers that she is expecting.
However I am not sure how much celebrating Mother's Day should be done for expecting women. Although the day will be special to her, there is no way to truly appreciate it until you have a little on in your arms. There is no way to realize how your life will change until you see that bundle of joy for the first time.
I am sure that there will be many first time expecting moms out there in the world this Mother's Day. While it will truly be a special day for them, they have even much more to look forward to next year!

Post a CommentMost definetly moms 2 be are mother's because we have to care for the child before it's arrival date. I have to go to prenatal visits, take vitamins, rest, eat and pee on demand all while a gain a ton of weight and bare muscle cramps, back aches, head aches, and sinus infections. I have to eat the right foods and abstian from anything that could harm the baby. So yes I am a caregiver.
