You can pay for one class separately, or you can choose to get a subscription to the website and have access to all the classes they offer for a low monthly, quarterly, or yearly fee. I chose to have access to all computer classes for a monthly fee of $29.95. I thought that is was a great price, and the best you could find.
I started to take my first class. It proved difficult. They offer no instructor to teach you the information you need to learn. You just read the lesson, and flip through the pages. At the end of the lesson you have questions that you can answer. All questions are graded. You can of course take notes during the lesson, or even print out the lesson itself. Each class that I was taking had about eight lessons in it. It took me about a week and a half to complete a class with all the lessons. After I completed the lessons, I took a skills test, which tested you on everything you have learned so far. You have to master each lesson and quiz to be able to complete the course. After I completed it, I was able to print out a certificate in Computer Basics. I liked that I had something to show for my work.
Starting on the second class, it began to test my abilities. I started to seek some link, or someone that was doing what I was doing. I needed to know that I wasn't alone in this. With no instructor and no other students to talk with, I felt very alone. It was getting harder for me to focus. Eventually I just gave up, realizing that I can't do by myself.
So, which is better? Paying a high price for classes in which you get a one on one instructor or an instructor of a group, and students to communicate with? Or really cheap classes that you must do completely on your own with no support at all? For me, I tried doing it on my own, and I failed. I have to have the support. If you think you can do it on your own, than go for it. www.classroomdoor.com offers very low price for many classes. It is a good choice for those that can handle it.

Post a CommentI would need support from a instructor. I could read books on my own and figure it out without paying anyone to do the same. Good article.
