Should Harold Camping Be a Stockbroker or a Sports Bookie?

Three Strikes and You're Out!

Jack Wellman
Since Harold Camping has failed in predicting the end of the world several times now, I have an idea. Perhaps he should be in the Stock Market business. He might have better luck in choosing what stocks to buy and which ones to avoid. But of course, what good are stocks if the world's going to end anyway.

The sad fact is that hundreds of failed prophecies have come and gone. These so-called "prophets" are actually a sign of the times. Did not Jesus say that no man can know the hour when He will return? If Harold Camping reads the Bible, then why does he skip this verse? He is actually doing more harm than good. He should consider himself lucky that He doesn't live in the Old Testament times because he would have been stoned to death for being a false prophet.

He is also doing harm to those who are truly evangelical Christians. He brings shame to the name of Christ in my opinion. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35 that no one will know the day or even the hour, yet Camping has falsely claimed to know both the day and the hour three times now. I believe that even in baseball you get three strikes and you are out. Perhaps his credibility will be totally gone now. I hope that those who support him financially will understand that he can not possibly know when Christ will return. The fact is that he might be better off being a bookie in Vegas and predicting sports scores. When he picks a team, then the wise thing to do is to pick the other team, because given his track record, he is 0- 3. At least he has a perfect score…perfectly wrong.

Don't let this man fool you. Christ is coming back and He could come back at any time now, but He will actually come back when we least expect it. And we can not expect any human to know this.

Amen, Jesus is coming back at a moment we least expect it. God cares about his reputation. I think we should too..As teachers of God's word we need to truly have a conviction that we are leading GOD's people How good are we taking care of them? We need to be prophets that continually seek to speak His TRUTH. Well Done, Jack.

I really wonder what he was thinking when he decided to pin point the date? I would like to discuss some of this with him. You're right, he got it wrong, and he desensitized the event to many who watched - again. But as you pointed out, He is coming back . . . and I can't wait. If Camping keeps it up, maybe he'll hit it right.

    Thanks for the article Jack

Great article. I would hope that TRUE Christians would ignore Harold Camping's predictions. However, what he is doing attempts to make a mockery of TRUE Christians. My son-in-law literally saw a group of people standing on a corner yesterday with signs that said, "Jesus is still coming" and a man with a megaphone shouting at the cars driving by. Obviously, this isn't the right way of reaching the lost either. If we would listen to God and His Holy Spirit, we would be much more successful in reaching lost souls for Him.

The Apostle John who saw, touched and learned at Jesus' side wrote a great letter in 1st John which gives us as TRUE believers the handbook for dealing with people like this. Test the Spirits and those who are teaching and be aware that many will come who are antichrists. My heart goes out to thse who are swayed by men such as Camping. How long will you tarry my Lord??

Where can we purchase a copy of The Great Omission?

Good article. If Jesus didn't know the date then you have to figure we won't either. Claiming to have this knowledge puts you in a dangerous spot. It can't be smart to put yourself above God's Son. Nicely done article, Jack.

I don't believe any of these predictions there have been so many over the years.
