Should Obese Passengers Have to Pay More

Everyone is Entitled to a Fair Price when Riding a Bus, Plane or Train.

The fare to ride a bus, train or plane is already expensive enough. There is talk of charging obese people extra money, so this begs the question. Should obese passengers have to pay more? No, obese passengers should not pay more. It is ridiculous to charge extra because someone is overweight. Being overweight is not a crime. Everyone is entitled to a fair price when riding a bus, plane or train.

Should Obese Passengers Have To Pay More

People who suffer from obesity are just like everyone else and they have feelings too. No one should have to pay twice as much just because of his or her weight. Around 40% of the people who are overweight suffer from health related issues. Medications that people take are often to blame for some of the health issues and the overweight problems that arise from taking this medicine.

Although being overweight causes health problem's being overweight does not make you a bad person. People who are overweight often times pay more for health insurance because of the health risks they may endure. It is true that being overweight causes health problems for your heart and lungs. Even though this is the case, no one should have to pay extra just to have a seat.

When someone decides to charge more just to have a seat on an airplane a bus or a train that person is actually degrading the person. It makes no sense why someone would charge someone just because of a weight problem. After all, they are not two people they are still one person and that person has feelings.

Airfare, train fair and bus fair should be the same price for everyone. When you walk into a station, you should not have to pay double the price for a seat. When you receive the price of let's say $60 for a seat and then when you get to the ticket counter and they realize you are overweight they want to charge you double. This is not fair and anyone that has this happen should tell his or her story so that everyone realizes just how big of a problem this really is.

The next time you decide to take transportation, other than your vehicle and you see an overweight person do not look the other way if they are overcharged. Instead stand up and tell the person that is trying to overcharge your feelings on charging someone who is overweight and extra fee just because they are obese. It is my humble opinion that no one who is obese should have to pay extra for transportation. So the answer to the question should obese passengers have to pay more is no.

It's the companies (airlines) that are doing this, not the employees. We need to voice our opinion by not using those companies. It's a small dent but were will it end? Thanks for the story.
