Should Prince William Have Proposed Using Diana's Engagement Ring?

Did Prince William Make a Mistake in Using His Mother's Engagement Ring to Propose to Kate?

Wendy Dawn
As if there is not enough lather over the royal wedding, the question now on the table is whether Prince William should have used his mother's ring as Kate Middleton's engagement ring.

Ted Casablanca, of E! Online, would like to start a rumor that the ring is cursed. His reasons that it should not have been used by William and Kate relate not only to Princess Diana's untimely and gruesome death, but her unhappy marriage to Prince Charles.

Poppycock!

Really, these considerations are of little importance in light of the compelling reasons to use Princess Diana's engagement ring to propose to Kate Middleton. Obviously, it was a thoughtful and meaningful thing to do. But, alas, some people in the media cannot see through eyes of purity and love, all of life is tainted by conspiracy and intrigue - whether it is or not.

Using Diana's ring was a touching way to honor his mother and her legacy. It was not meant to drag about the horror of her death her marriage to the Royal prude, Prince Charles. It was a way to include his dearly beloved mother in one of the most important events of his life and the life of the Royal family. It was a beautiful gesture by which Prince William brought to the impending wedding his mother's life and memory. In so doing, he made a gesture toward the people of England that yes, he and Kate Middleton were getting married, a royal wedding dominate the headlines, but his mother's memory will not be forgotten or overshadowed by the event.

It is most likely that rather than remembering the negativity associated with the ring Prince William sees the ring as a part of his mother and her as a happy part of his life. This ring was one that remained a part of Diana's life even after her divorce from Prince Charles. It is one thing that could tangibly link Prince William's fond memories of his mother to his marriage with Kate Middleton.

The ring also makes a beautiful statement to the Royal's subjects. The people loved, and continue to love, Princess Diana. Is it so bad that Prince William, among other compelling reasons to use his mother's ring, would give the people a nod. Perhaps it is a statement on behalf of Prince William that he is in solidarity with the people when it comes to their memories of and affection for Princess Diana. Perhaps he is suggesting that they may expect much of the same from his lovely bride.

We wrote the book Know Your Future, Thai Astrology, in 2009. We already knew of Prince William’s long relationship with Kate Middleton, but the technical analysis predicted marriage for Prince William as far away as 2019. We were at that time surprised that they should have to wait for so long, but because it was based on pure analysis we decided to print that prediction on the book back cover. On 17 November 2010, they announced the plan to marry in 2011.
We wish to offer our humble congratulations to Prince William and Kate!
However, we rechecked and think that Thai astrology still predicts difficulties regarding the intended marriage. For full details, go to our official Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Know-Your-Future/176586399024099

I think it was a sweet gesture. To those who complain I have to ask this question. Would you rather he visited the local pawn shop?

Yes, yes, I think it is wonderful to have his deceased mother's memories brought alive.
