Should Pro Golfers Be Compared to Other Professional Athletes?

I might not be the biggest golf fan, but I have become somewhat of a fan since Tiger Woods took over the sport. His greatness made me want to watch the sport. But with that said it's hard for me to compare Tiger Woods let alone other golfers to somebody like Lebron James or Peyton Manning. When I sit back and think about it, it's really hard to do. I mean, come, on golf is a rich person's sport. We know how great African American athletes are, but only one has dominated the sport Tiger Woods and he's only half black.

I can remember how when me and my brother wanted to play golf growing up. We had to buy our golf clubs from Goodwill and then we had to sneak onto the golf course. So how do we know that there aren't hundreds of potentially great golfers out there that can't afford to get into the sport? So with that said I don't think golfers should be compared to other professional athletes. The sport is too dictated around athletes who can afford to play the game thus we don't know the true competition level at which golf can be reached.
