Should You Read Twilight First or Watch the Movie?

Making the decision to see a movie or read the book first can be a little bit difficult. The movie Twilight is one book that many people feel should be read before seeing the movie. I have to disagree that reading the Twilight book is important to do before seeing the movie.

Stephenie Meyer did a really great job with the book Twilight. The only reason that I read Twilight was to find out what all the hype was about, but I didn't want to put the book down. It was to the point where I couldn't stop until I finished reading. By the time that I was finished reading Twilight, I was a fan of this book series. This is why I think that it may be better to watch the movie first.

I was slightly disappointed with the Twilight movie because I had such high hopes for it. After reading the Twilight book, I thought that the movie was going to be amazing. I won't say that the Twilight movie was bad, because it wasn't bad at all. Compared to most movies, it was actually quite good. The acting was excellent and, with the exception of a few scenes, the essence of the Twilight book was captured pretty well.

One of my daughters didn't read the Twilight book before watching the movie, and probably never will. She still really enjoyed the movie Twilight, and wasn't confused by it at all. She said that her friend didn't read it either and wasn't confused. My other daughter read Twilight and also enjoyed the movie just as much. She was not disappointed with Twilight at all.

Even though I liked the movie Twilight, I still think that the book is better. As someone who loves to read, this is only natural though. There are many movies that I have seen after reading the books and, overall, have found them to be a lot worse. When I see the movie and then read the book, I find the book to be much less enjoyable. If you watch the movie first, you know what will happen in the book but if you read the book first, you know what will happen in the movie.

Really what I think it comes down to is your own personal preferences. If you would prefer to see a good movie and be disappointed by the book, then you should watch Twilight first. If you would rather read a good book however definitely read Twilight before watching the movie Twilight. Some people may be happier to read Twilight first, but others will be fine watching the movie before compelling reading the book by Stephenie Meyer.

Sorry, I only clicked once. Don't know why it duplicated.

I've found it to be true that after I've read a book, a movie can never do it justice. I also remember reading "The Shepherd of the Hills" and then seeing the live show afterwards (at Branson, Missouri), and while I enjoyed the show, it was a disappointment because it couldn't come close to covering everything the book did. When you think about it, you may spend several hours reading a book, and while it does a lot of location description, etc. that takes no time in a movie, there's just no way anyone can squeeze into a couple of hours what it takes many more hours to read. Agreed?
