My husband in particular, loves to have dinner that has been cooked in the rotisserie. We have done everything: pork roasts, beef roasts, whole chickens, chicken wings, beef and chicken kabobs, and even lamb. Everything comes out wonderfully tasty and cooked to perfection. It is also fun to watch. My kids love to watch the meat spin around and around in the light.
We have not used the option of putting vegetables in the container on top and letting them cook at the same time. It is easy to forget that that option is there. In fact, I accidentally set one of the included heavy duty rubber gloves on top of it once and the smell of burning rubber haunted us for several days, as well as ruining the glove. Also, if your meat is not securely tied down, it can catch fire, or at the very least smoke up your house. Although they market the slogan "Set it and forget it", do not take that literally as you could come home to a kitchen in flames.
But if you are a responsible chef and enjoy the taste of rotisserie chickens and other juicy meats, you should give this item a try! There are many options! For example, when we had a lot of people coming for Thanksgiving one year, in addition to our 20 pound turkey, we also bought a turkey breast and cooked it in the rotisserie. It tasted wonderful and saved us from having to figure out how to cook two turkeys or worse, worry over running out of turkey on Thanksgiving Day! We have had a lot of fun over the years, trying new things in our Showtime Rotisserie. My parents-in-law liked ours so much that they also bought one!
Storing it can be a bit of a hassle. We put up a shelf in our laundry room just for the rotisserie and it works out perfectly. We bring it out when we need it, and replace it when we are done and have finished cleaning it. We have not had any issues cleaning it out either. We just remove the parts when we are done and run them through the dishwasher. While they are in the dishwasher, I take a clean rag or sponge and wipe out the inside.
Concerned about the cost? Let's assume you buy one rotisserie chicken each week at an average of $6. Buy buying whole chickens on sale at about $3 each, you will save $3 each week, or $156 per year. I have used my rotisserie for seven years and it is still going strong, so over seven years I have saved over a thousand dollars! And that is just on chicken! I guarantee you would pay much more for rotisseried roasts, turkeys, or kabobs at a store.
I love using my Showtime Rotisserie. If you have ever considered buying one, I would highly recommend that you do so! It has been a great tool in our family's kitchen!
