Showtime Series the Tudors: A Must See Show

Erica Dallas
The Tudors is by far the most interesting series that has come along since the HBO series Rome. Set in England, this show revolves around the reign of Henry VIII, a twenty-something king with a full royal life. He especially had many marriages. Jonathan Rhys-Myers plays Henry the VIII and delivers a powerful performance every time he appears on screen. With his piercing eyes and disarming smile, he is a danger to any women (married or single) in the court. His dalliances legend and his machinations feared by all, King Henry is a man of many talents - writing poems and music, sports, and more. He was definitely known as a renaissance man in his time. Usually, the king is the one who breaks off all of his dalliances. He quickly learns that he too can fall hard in love.

After taking one look at Anne Boleyn, his was instantly enamored of her. Encouraged by both father and uncle, Anne is instructed to win over the king's affections in the plot to destroy Worsey, the kings trusted sidekick who has aspirations to be Pope. This series takes you through a run of twists and turns all with the history of England in the mix. Lucky for me, I have Showtime on Demand and can enjoy all of the episodes with a click of my trusty remote. I definitely suggest that anyone who enjoys time period pieces, drama, romance, and suspense to take a look at this show. Watch The Tudors on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. This series is one of Showtime's most prized award winning shows and for a very good reason, I add. With such stars as Jonathon Rhys-Myers, and the super hot Henry Cavill, and Natalie Dormer, the show was destined to be a success. Everyone loves to speculate on the historic events of those most powerful people in the world. This is one example of a show that incorporates all of these aspects into its plot.

This show definitely has lessons for all to learn, especially if you are placed into positions of power. It would be very wise to watch all that surround you, especially those closest to you - for those are the ones who may have a hand in your very downfall. The viewing audience is able to see how court trials are conducted as well as how the kings and queens of that time period lived. The scenery of England is so breathtaking and the costumes really enhance the characters. This show pulls you deep in its spell and you will instantly want to find out more about this time period.

If you are a romantic who loves a good intrigue, I would suggest that you watch this show. Time period pieces - when directed and cast the right way - are some of the most memorable shows you ever watch. Go to Showtime online and get more information and scheduling times so that you can check out the show. Its well worth it, I promise.
