Shrek 2 Review

Shrek 2 is a wonderfully made sequel and an overall great family made movie. This movie starts off where the first movie ended, both Princess Fiona and Shrek have just gotten back from there honeymoon vacation, unfortunately there invited to her parents house. Fiona's parents are the King and Queen of a place called Far Far Away (hopefully you got the joke) they invite them for a little family get together or dinner to celebrate the marriage between Shrek and Fiona since they haven't actually met him before. However, Fiona's parents don't actually know that their daughter is in fact an ogre as opposed to her being a regular human being. Princess Fiona's father was in complete disarray, he saw Fiona and Prince Charming (who was mentioned in the first movie) getting married and living a beautiful life together and tries to bribe a cat named Puss in Boots to kill Shrek. Shrek than tries everything in his power to make him the man or ogre Princess Fiona always wanted while on the other hand the Fairy Godmother ( Prince Charming's mother) and her son Prince Charming come up with a devious plan to win the heart of Fiona through deception.

Although I loved the original Shrekmovie,I can truthfully admit that I laughed hysterically in this movie and I absolutely loved it. The first film was a decent but had a innocent feel to it, whereas the second film took us in a whole new direction with mind blowing animations, dramatic moments, and unbelievably funny jokes and or actions. Antonio Banderas's character as the cat, Puss in Boots was a great upgrade to the Shrek cast he was certainly my favorite character in the movie. I couldn't see anyone play the cat in this movie other than Antonio Banderas his voice works perfectly for his character Puss in Boots. I also found it cute that he's not just a cat but a fighter with a bit of an edge and you'll see why when you watch this movie.

Shrek 2 had a far better story line than the first movie and that's all strictly my opinion although others may disagree. All of the characters and scenarios are a lot more comedic, this movie doesn't only appeal to children but to adults as well. When I saw this movie the first time through I noticed that the individuals that worked on this movie had a lot more fun and it showed in all of the details made in this film and many of the odd humor or jokes were more on target. For example, where Fiona's parents live on the sign it says Far Far Away, this joke replaces the sign that says Hollywood. There are also a lot of great morals that everyone should pick up on when watching this movie.

Overall, I think that this movie Shrek 2 as the sequel certainly outperforms the first one by a mile. I prefer the this film over the original movie, it was a lot more well paced and clever as well. This movie's a classic just like Toy Story because it stands on it's own and there's absolutely no ands ifs or buts about it. When I saw this with my family they all loved it and preferred this one over the other but I don't see why anyone else couldn't see this. Shrek 2 is a cut above the rest of the other CGI films because of the great plots, animations, sounds it all comes together beautifully and this is what makes this movie work considering it also made a killing at the box office. So I say this, go to your local video store and rent this movie and watch it from start to finish and you'll see why I said such wonderful things about this movie. A funny movie that will interest those that like to be entertained whether their fans of comedies or fairy tale novels. I truly appreciate the individuals that have taken time out of their day to read this review I am certainly thankful for that.
