Ten of the nineteen track listings for the Shrek Forever After soundtrack are skits, but the remaining nine choices provide a very diverse musical backdrop for the motion picture.

Trailers for Shrek Forever After have been relying heavily on the instantly familiar "Right Back Where We Started From" by Maxine Nightingale, a track that has been featured on numerous television commercials in recent years. Also notable is the inclusion of a Weezer performed rendition of the Shrek mainstay "I'm a Believer." The original Shrek movie featured two versions of "I'm a Believer," one performed by the band Smash Mouth and the other featuring Eddie Murphy as the voice of Donkey within the film. The Smash Mouth version of "I'm a Believer" received massive radio airplay and rose to the position of number 25 on the Billboard Top 100 singles.

Lionel Richie's "Hello" provides a bit of mellow to the track listing. While the song may be older in terms of time, it does not possess a dated sound which should lead to an interesting presentation within the film. "Top of the World" by The Carpenters is also bringing a little bit more of the older into the scope of the Shrek universe, but the upbeat tone of the song should work out very well in a happiness montage!

"Sure Shot" by the Beastie Boys isn't an old oldie, but it is also not a new release. The implementation of this song into the film Shrek should be unique as should the Scissor Sisters song "Isn't It Strange." A Mike Simpson version of the dance floor favorite "Shake Your Groove Thing" looks like it could be a classic Shrek close-out song if a throwback to "I'm a Believer" doesn't win out.

The Shrek soundtrack features a lot of diversity, and while the skits are easily placed as pieces of film the songs are sure to be unique paired with montages and touching scenes from the Shrek Forever After movie.
