Shunned from My Own Birthplace by "Illegal Aliens" and an "Illegal Government"

Is Our "Melting Pot" Getting a Little Spicy?

Why, for the complete understanding that Mexicans want a better life, would a Mexican want to come here to America? Isn't this first of all disrespecting them as a race? Put your feet in their shoes for a minute and ask yourselves, " Would I go to a country where I am welcomed solely for the fact that I am willing to work cheaper than the average native?

As I was going through hundreds of reviews, I've noticed that very few reviews on illegal aliens are actually written by someone, who quite often, works in the same field as they do. Most negative reviews were only based on what the average American saw, or better yet, what they have to live through, living in the same America as Illegals do. Most never work next to a Hispanic or even socialize with one. they just know they don't like them. I am not one of those, being brought up in a house that was loved and showed how to love, not just through my own family and friends, but to all. diversity was open and shared, and more often than not, my friends were often my "third world" teachers.

Through the years of being in the occupation of construction, (primarily roofing), I have had the benefit of working next to these "Illegal Aliens" and got a first-hand Idea of why they really crossed the border. Over the last five years, I have learned that there is a vast amount of difference in the type of types of Mexicans Themselves. They live in different regions, different lifestyles, and even have a different language. Some Mexicans lived in snowy mountains, (another lesson learned here, I always thought it was a hot, humid, environment), as well as places where the location was nearly uninhabitable. From what I understood first hand through my "Illegal friends", Mexicans lived in conditions that were deplorable.

Some come to America to earn a decent living, raise their family and most Importantly, leave the violence. This struck me as odd, but the more I talked to them, the more I understood why. Apart from the rest of excuses I've heard, some parts of Mexico are so violent, you have to belong to a group or gang in order to survive. The government is corrupt, as well as their society. The conditions for some of these Illegals are not that they actually need a lot of money to live comfortly, they actually needed a SAFE place to raise their family. From what I learned first hand through these Illegal Mexicans, conditions were deplorable and life-threatening.

So, In essence, I do believe in the great melting pot of America, and yes, there are good reasons why some Mexicans couldn't wait in line for the process of getting in America. Yes, there are "Illegal Aliens" living in the mist of our neighborhood because of good reasons. Personally, I don't think this is what hurts Americans the most, and if was just for a few families, I don't think America would really retalliate so harshly. So what is the problem facing America with a situation like this?

One Reason. It's the way this government handles these matters. This is a TRUE account of what this reviewer lived through with the explosion of Mexicans in my neighbor hood in Indiana and how our government only made the progression worse.

For one, it's the numbers alone that scared alot of us. There weren't just a few hispanics that moved into my neighborhood all of a sudden, there were thousands of Mexicans moving in! Organized syndicates, as well as certain Mexican civil rights movements , as well as Americans, sneaking them in, our great "melting pot", which should be full of diversity, opportunity, and an understanding of freedom and the American way, has gotten our "Melting Pot", (as well as my old neighborhood), WAY TOO SPICY!! Thanks to our government, passing out free assistance that The American Society has to pay for, just because you are a Mexican, started a hatred that soon enveloped, and thanks to our businesses for trying to shave money off of their overhead, my old neighborhood was taken over.

What happened to the rest of the world? Is there a population explosion of Chinese people walking around? How about the British? Nooo. See alot of Koreans? Have you ever considered that the only reason this is happening is that these cultures and ethics would not come in droves because of the dissrespect alone? These cultures have to go through the legal process of obtaining rights to habitat our great land, yet, if you are a mexican, you have a certain "get in free" card because of your geographical location. Think if it this way, look at the numbers as Indiana businesses, (most), turn their backs on American workers and hire Mexican help. Some statistics come to mind: In 2002, I had 32 contracters that kept me and five other individuals working full time. Now, i have two. this is my main source of income back then. how did this happen?

Read this example: Back then, my family primarily roofed, often working on brand new homes, as well as re-roofing existing houses that needed a "re-haul". We never advertised because word of mouth was our best ad. We were living "high on the hog", as they say in my stretch of the woods and no one seen it coming.
But it came, thousands of them. Mexicans from all walks of the hispanic area came. First of all, our local government thought the neighborhood i lived in was the best place for Mexicans, legal or otherwise, to settle down. I started seeing Mexican neighbors, which at first, didn't bother me. After about a month, my alarm clock was replaced by a rooster, (which started coo-cooing an hour before my alarm). Instead of the usual three-to-five family household holding three-to-five people, there were often twelve or more Mexicans living under the same roof. Trucks and cars started showing up in grass areas, often broke down and on cinder blocks, were starting to litter yards and back alleys.

House parties started popping up with bonfires in the front lawn, and they would last until the wee hours. At first, the police would show up. After a while, the Mexicans would catch on and they would move three or four times in one night to keep from being harrassed. No one would go to bed! Worse off, I would start seeing older Mexicans sitting on sidewalks. They were just sitting there doing nothing, (or doing something Illegal I didn't know about). The American businesses started leaving the hood, and these were businesses that were not only popular, (like Dairy Queen), they were businesses that were in the same place for decades. I was noticing that If you owned a business and if you stayed on Washington Street, (where the biggest attraction for Mexicans were), you were basically shunned. Honest, hard working people were losing their jobs and they were being replaced by Mexican-owned businesses. Only Mexicans worked at these establishments. Next, the famous honky-tonk bar was changed into a Mexican bar. I tried to get in, but was turned away. This to me is being prejudice, but not by me . I WAS THE ONE DENIED BECAUSE I WAS WHITE!

Going to work with my five workers, I was heading up north to a vast area of Indiana called Carmel. Carmel is basically to Indiana what Hollywood is to California. Most of the area have folks who are better off financially than most, so the work was primarily in this area and the surrounding counties. While pulling up to unload my men and tools, I was met head-on by thirty or so Mexicans and the contractor. Apparently he didn't need me any longer, for the price I was charging him was being cut in half, thanks to the Mexicans. This was my first Idea that something was going on and it was DEAD WRONG. Now i have money being taken out of my pockets. I also have a family to feed and contractors don't seem to understand that it takes time to set up another roof. Less than four years later, I have but two contractors left, even after I cut my pay in half. I learned the hard way that you do not even try to hire Mexicans as sub-contractors also. They have a funny way of actually out-bidding your job. Yes. this is the thanks I get for trying to be supportive to my fellow human beings. The government set them up to where they pay nothing out in taxes, so they don't pay out as much. Did you know that most of those Mexicans that were on your roof last year were there only to pay the mule that got them there? Yes, the average "Illegal" works for Mexican companies for room, board, and payments for him to get here in the first place. Remember, I AM THE ONE WHO GOT THIS FIRST HAND. I am the one who was told by them. Some of these "payments" are in excess of $4,000.00. Often accused of sending their money "over the border", some hispanics never recover from the 'Mule Bill".

As of 2008, there is not one American living in the neighborhood where I grew up. You will see Very few white people even walking down the street. Washington Street is now nicknamed "Little Tiquana", and the property value has fell dramatically. Am I prejudiced? No, not even close. Being close to GOD, I feel when we die, we will be with other races, colors and creeds for eternity. Why would i start establishing a hate toward a society of people that are latching onto what they feel is a good thing. The Issue is not with me. It's this local government. Someone had a crazy idea and worked it BEHIND our backs. Who made out like a fat hog because of this? Not me.
I rarely go through this neighborhood anymore. It's not because i'm mad at the situation either. it's primarily because i am no longer wanted or even get served. that's right, unless I'm pumping gas or going to CVS, I now stick out like a sore thumb, playing the "I can't speaky no english" routine to a Mexican business that does not want the reputation of serving Americans, and much less, white people. I go to see my brother that lives a mile away, (still refusing to move even under horrible conditions), and I often drive by the house I was brought up in. It now serves a 12-family Mexican horde full of, you guessed it,....roofers.

I look at Hispanics as I look at everyone else. I wasn't raised prejudice. in fact, I taught myself Spanish LONG before the contractors found out this language was actually needed to run spanish sub-contractors. All I'm asking for is a change of not only laws to keep from a local government dissrespecting old neighborhoods, such as mine, but to also respect the Mexicans.... AND ME.
