Shwayze: Self Titled Sneak-Peek Album Review

After Buzzin' Can Cisco Adler and Shawyze Deliver a Solid Album?

The Reviewer
Up and coming rapper Shwayze and rocker Cisco Adler have teamed up to form the hip-hop-rock hybrid group Shwayze. The unlikely duo is preparing to release their debut album Shwayze. The duo had the good fortune of having an MTV show centered around them. With Cisco's laid back production and vocals and Shwayze's laid back California flow, will Shwayze be a success?

The first single off of Shwayze is the incredibly catchy Buzzin'. The song is a perfect summertime beach song. The song captures who Shwayze is musically in one song. The song is featured in numerous advertisements as it is just well written, produced and executed.

The second single is Corona & Lime. The track is a perfect follow up to their first single. The song is in the same vein as Buzzin' yet a little faster. The song might be even catchier than their first single.

Lazy Days is another solid track in the same genre as the other singles. The song is mellower than the previous two singles yet very similar.

Hollywood has a mellower vibe than the other tracks on the album. Cisco's vocals almost sound haunting; while Shwayze raps about some of the pitfalls of fame and success.

Mary Jane is a solo song by Cisco Adler. The track is clearly devoted to his love of a certain illegal drug; although it is never truly referenced on the track.

James Brown Is Dead is one of the most off-the-wall tracks in recent memory. The chorus is completely different than anything on the marketplace. The song however is actually a commentary on the current state of hip hop.

Don't Be Shy seems like a suitable follow up to Corona & Lime. The song is very similar to the commercialized nature of the other singles released.

On Flashlight, Dave Navarro joins the party on electric guitar. The song is solid but nothing special until Dave Navarro joins with his incredible guitar solo.

Lazy Susan has a more hip hop feel to it. The track is one of the more urban and solid tracks on the album and shows diversity.

Shawyze is definitely filling a void in the current industry of music for feel good hip hop with acoustic guitars. There is a whole community out there that will eat their music up. However the album only has a few good cuts. Overall Shwayze gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Shwayze make sure you pick up their self titled album Shwayze when it is available in stores on August 19th.
