Sibling Rivalry Comes in All Shapes and Sizes!

I always though if I had my children far enough apart that I wouldn't have all that sibling rivalry you hear about from other mothers. My two children are 5 and 12. The 5 year is the girl, 12 is the boy. Boy, was I wrong! Those two fight and fuss over every little thing.

As, I'm coming home from work, I have both of them in the back seat. In a loud blood curling scream my 5 year screams "Mommy, Bubba has his arm on my side of the car"! After I calm my nerves after the scream where I thought she was falling out of the car or something, of course I tell my son to keep his arm on his side of the car. Five seconds later my sons yells "Sissy is touching my Nintendo DS". Again, I'm saying "Don't touch your brothers game". Hey, ten seconds go by and I think to myself "maybe, just maybe, they will be good the rest of the way home". What was I thinking? The next incident is the traumatic event of my son sticking his tongue out at his sister. Of course he just did that because she was breathing to hard on his side of the car. Yes, that makes sense as to why that would turn their worlds upside down and cause a battle. I guess if he wouldn't put his arm over an inch near where she is sitting and she wouldn't breath near his side of the car, what a wonderful world it would be for them.

So, to all the mothers that think they should wait years to have their children apart to avoid this....think again. Just go for it with a year or two apart, that way when they are 14 and 16 pulling each others hair out, you know it's just a few more years before they are leaving the nest and you won't have to pull your hair out!
