Sick

Nancy V Canfield
Constant pounding in my head.
Wanting to go back to bed.
Fuzzy feeling, hot and cold,
Must be more than getting old.

Scratchy throat, a sneeze or two,
Waiting for my tea to brew.
Aching bones, dizziness,
My body flashing SOS.

Back to bed to moan and see
If anybody misses me.
Feed a fever, starve a cold,
Just give me someone's hand to hold.

An elephant sits on my chest,
Whining now, can't breathe, depressed.
I'm going to die, and no one cares,
My selfish non-attentive heirs.

It's been days, no food or ginger ale,
Hacking cough....so weak....so frail...
Oh wait! Are those footsteps I hear?
Music to my crackling ear!

I blessed my savior, hugged and kissed her.
Ha! I just gave this to my sister!
