Are you a fan of MTV's Beavis and Butthead or of Fox TV's South Park? Remember Betty Boop? They have their roots in Spike & Mike Mellow Manor Productions.

A road show, Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Animation Festival, is coming to Ferndale's Magic Bag at 2290 Woodward Ave.

Co-founders Craig "Spike" Decker and Mike Gribble, who died in 1994, lived in the communal Mellow Manor in Riverside, Calif., during he early 1970s.

"This was an '˜Animal House;' before National Lampoon made theirs famous," explains the Spike & Mike website.

The first show is Wednesday, Dec. 22, and then there's a five-day post-Christmas run from Sunday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Dec. 30. Audience members can count on some R-rated material at the minimum. Admission is restricted to those ages 18 and older. For each show, doors open at 8 a.m. and the films begin at 9:30 p.m.
