Sick of Windows and Mac? Welcome Google Chrome OS

Andrew Ng
Sick of Windows and Linux but can't afford a Mac? I have some good news for you then Google's operating system Chrome is now available free of charge BUT it will not work on all computers actually unless you know how to recode the Google operating system your stuck with it on the Dell Mini 10V which is a netbook not a laptop so do not get all happy and flip over your laptop to see if it is the Dell Mini 10V. Dell employees have tinkered with the operating system's code to have to work somewhat flawlessly on the Dell Mini 10 V. Now for those who do not know the Google Chrome OS is an open source operating system so what Dell is doing is not illegal so do not be worried that one day the cops will knock on your door asking you questions about how you got Google Chrome OS.

In order to get it you must download the image file onto your usb from Dell's website then plug into your Netbook make sure it's a Dell Mini 10 V and your done it's simple and you do not have to install it onto your netbook hard drive. all files are stored onto your flash drive the downside to this is that the operating system was designed more for internet use but if you using a netbook then this should've be too much of a concern.

You should also beware that it is a beta so it will not be stable and at times will freeze. Do not freak out when you boot it your wireless is not recognized. It will take a while for your wireless connection to recognized by the operating system wired connections would be faster to recognized. Dell has asked testers to be patient as it is a work in progress. They also said when it doubt reboot by pressing the power button on the netbook there is no shut down restart option in the operating system.

So take a chance today if you are sick of Windows and try the Google Chrome OS operating system I am for sure and will post an in depth review shortly in the future.

When Will The Google Chrome Operating System Come Out?

Google is releasing the beta to developers so they can code the operating system for their computer systems. What does that mean to the public? Chrome is open source so it's free that's the good news the bad news is that it's designed to run off USB drives so it's basically for web use except the boot up times are faster than the other operating systems out there. So you are able to get on look up what you want and get off in a heartbeat.

What else do we know about it? What we know is that all the applications are web-based and you would not need to download anything onto the computer. The bad about this is if you don't have internet you can't work on what you started like an essay or even watch a movie that you have on the plane. The good part is that it's free and it's designed for the internet which let's face it the internet is a drug that every American uses. Okay maybe not ever American but most use it and the ones who use it more it's a risk but at the same time it makes sense what programs do teenagers use that they can't use online? The main program would be iTunes but sooner or later someone is going to make so you can sync your Ipod online whether or not Apple will allow that is another question. Another feature is no virus can be obtained on the Google Chrome OS saving money for people who go online a lot and get a lot of virus. It will also save people money because the operating system is free and there is a not expensive hardware requirement.

So, when does it come out late 2010 on selected Netbooks and will branch out for everyone to use hopefully that is the plan but as we learn in life plans change. Here are a list of companies that plan to offer the OS so far Hewlett-Packard, Acer, Adobe, Asus, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Freescale and Intel.
