Sigh... Kathie Lee Gifford is Back on TV

I Can't Believe NBC Made This Move

Matt A. Maxx
According to an article that I read on ShowBuzz Today, Kathie Lee Grifford will be returning to the NBC 'Today' show during their fourth hour in the mornings to anchor with Hoda Kotb. Kathie Lee has had a long-career including her role as a 'Hee Haw Honey' and Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson.

Where we probably all remember Kathie Lee Gifford best is from her years with Regis Philbin on ABC's 'Live With Regis And Kathie Lee' morning news show during the 1980's. It was on this show that Kathie Lee became rather unpopular among the masses after her daily gestures and comments made her appear to have a superiority complex associated with her families worth. Viewers tired quickly of her daily family gossip.

For people too young to remember the Kathie Lee Gifford name from the 1980's when she left the 'Regis and Kathie Lee' show allowing the sagging Regis ratings to skyrocket, you may remember this name from her 1990's Wal Mart line of clothing that hit the news after Kathie Lee was found to be using sweatshop labor on her products.

Somehow, NBC asking a ratings dropper with a scandalous clothing-line to anchor the fourth-hour of a popular morning show makes no sense to me. While Kathie Lee may be a talented actress, for those of us who remember her daily uninteresting and annoying gossip, we are not going to be leaving our dials on NBC during that fourth hour of the current 'Today' show.

Some people, who were offended by the 1990's sweatshop clothing line scandal, are not going to be racing towards NBC to hear any more from this person who cared more about making money than she did about the lives of the people making it for her. Kathie Lee has tried to save her public image by doing good deeds towards crack cocaine babies, and within the AIDS battle, but for those of us who have already formed our opinions, it doesn't matter. The original wrongs still happened.

In my opinion, NBC may have done better if they had created a reality show around finding a new up-and-coming anchor, and allowed a rotating series of new faces for viewers to approve before offering this coveted position to somebody that many viewers do not like. We have many talented people in America; there is no reason to use a disaster waiting to happen.

Well, NBC. Goodbye. I'm off to go dust my radio now so that it will be ready to replace your hour-four of the 'Today' show. When you are choosing your next anchor, put my vote in for a male who takes his job seriously, and one who doesn't want to subject me to his children's baby stories between news items.

She needs to stay at home. At least Frank gets a break from his sentence. Poor old dude, he thought he was getting a sweet thing (hardly young) but I bet he's been in Purgatory since his little tryst.

Didn't miss her but it's going to be fun watching her crash n burn yet again! Thanks NBC for giving the tabloid, late night shows and especially the Soup for all the Xtra material.

Everything will be on YouTube when it finally happens.

I finally started liking the Today show again after the other nice person-turned premadonna Katie Couric left. I cannot stand Kathy Lee Gifford, so I will be going back to Dianne Sawyer and Good Morning America. Very stupid move on NBCs part. Thanks for the report.
