The Amalfi Coast is one of Italy's most beautiful coastal lines and it is located in south Italy along the peninsula Sorrentina and it goes from Vietri sul Mare all the way to Positano, and the main town on the Coast is Salerno, which is a medium size town with a population of about one hundred and fifty thousand. According to the Amalfi Coast website (http://www.costa-amalfitana.it/) is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) because of its striking towns and rough terrain as well as a breathtaking view. And while you take in the scenic view from the beaches and coastlines and tasting some great seafood go sightseeing as well and below are some interesting sites to go check out.

Amafi itself is a small commune where you can see the duomo of the city which was built in the nineteenth century with a neo-gothic façade with a corridor that precedes the bell tower and the chapel of the crucifix with a wonderful set of stairs that bring you to it.

And another striking site is the Villa Cimbrone in Ravello and according to the website (http://www.costa-amalfitana.it/) the villa was built to the eleventh century before Christ even though during the course of time the place was altered but you can still get a glimpse of some of the original architectural basic elements. The gardens are also a wonderful exquisiteness and have remained close to the original one with the greens and the pretty flowers and you can take in all the wonderfulness of it almost like a fairy tale garden.

In Ravello there is also another site that is worth seeing and that is the city's cathedral or the duomo which seems to have been built around the end of the eleventh century based on the model of the Montecassino abbey according to the Amalfi Coast website (http://www.costa-amalfitana.it/). The bell tower is divided in two floors with double lancet windows and arches that interlace with it and in the eighteenth century the columns where rebuilt in a baroque style, while in the internal of the cathedral you can see beautiful marble statues and on one side you can see a Byzantine statue of the prophet Jonas.

These are just three of the interesting sites that you can enjoy while traveling to the Amalfi Coast but you can definitely see others as well.
