Arthur Roger Gallery
This is the place you want to go to if you want to see a large display of art. The Arthur Roger gallery is one of the biggest in its class in all of New Orleans. 5,000 square feet of space display works from both regional and national artists and exhibitionists. The Gallery has won a number of awards, recent ones being: Osaka Prefecture, Japan: Grand Prize for Public Sculpture, Delgado Society Award for Artistic Excellence, and the Lazlo Aranyi Award of Honor for Public Art. The Arthur Gallery is located on 432 Julia street, and can be reached by calling 504-522-1999.
Magazine Street
If you love to shop, then Magazine Street is the place for you. With over 140 stores and shops lining the street, boasting 19th century brick storefronts, you'll be sure to find something you want to buy. This street spans 6 miles, and is full of antiques, souvenirs, crafts, novelties, just about anything you would fancy in a shop. Available along the whole street is a free guide called Visit Magazine Street: For a Shopper's Dream, which is also a map to almost every store on magazine Street and gives you a better idea of what you are looking for.
Canal Place
For a more upscale shopping experience, head on down to 365 Canal St and shop at Canal Place with more than 50 shops to get your shopping mojo working. Some of the world's most ritzy retailers can be found here: shop at Brooks Brothers Saks Fifth Avenue, Gucci, and Jaeger, just to name a few. Located on the edge of the historic French Quarter, in the heart of New Orleans, these shops guarantee you'll find something stylish and elegant. When you become hungry, stop in at Panda Cafe, Morton's, The Steakhouse, or Cafe Nauge for some fine dining. Grab a cup of coffee at the delicious Starbuck's. No matter what your looking for, you'll find it at Canal Place.
French Market
Everyone has heard of the famous New Orleans French Market. Shopping starts on Decatur Street, which is located across from Jackson Square. You'll find just about anything in the French market, items like toys, candles, candy, souvenirs, clothing, novelty items and more. You'll even find fresh food and even canned alligator. Hows that for diversity! Supposedly the souvenirs are even better here than on Bourbon Street, so make sure that you bring plenty of cash!
