HANDLE
This is the one Sigma brush where I wish the handle were slightly larger. It is a very good size, larger than most other brushes, but does not feel as good in the hand as some other brushes do. It has the matte black finish with the silver logo, giving the SS168 the professional look it has. It has a fairly long handle compared to the size of the bristles.
BRISTLES
What makes this such a great contouring brush is the width of the bristles. Since they are concentrated in the middle and sifter towards the edges, it blends the color completely naturally and makes your face look thinner. They are just as soft on the face as they are on the hand, and glide across the face with little to no effort.
BUILD QUALITY
This brush has a great density and the ferule is absolutely marvelous, making it very well built. The bristles stay in place, clean easily, are cut precisely in the right shape for the hollows of the cheeks. The bristles are just as soft as the duo-fibre brushes, boosting the build quality even more for me.
APPLICATION
I use this brush with my Blush Ombre to pick up the gradient and as my sole contouring brush. As stated earlier, the width makes the color spread easily and look completely natural. You can also pack on the color, or keep it subtle with this brush. It really does glide on the face, and applies all colors impeccably.
FINAL OPINIONS
Before this brush, I couldn't contour to save my life. If I'm being completely honest, I still have trouble with it sometimes. However, this brush accounts for any progress I have made. The SS168 is available in the Complete Brush Set, but is not sold separately at this time. You could probably find a good dupe for this one (I am sure the MAC 168 is just as good), so I wouldn't worry too much if you don't want to buy the whole set. For me, this brush changed my contouring life and made it existent.
