HANDLE
One of my requirements in a brush is a good, sturdy handle. The SS190 has this. It is pretty thick, a common characteristic of a Sigma brush, and sits in the hand perfectly. It is the same black with silver writing as most other brushes on the market, and the ferule is a very nice metal.
BRISTLES
The bristles on the face feel very smooth; however, when you use the top, it is soft. In all other traditional foundation brushes I have tried, the bristles were just smooth and coarse. What makes this brush special is the slightly tapered shape at the top. It is almost pointed, making it great for getting on the sides of the nose, and other odd places such as the hairline.
BUILD QUALITY
Since the handle is thicker, it feels great in the hand and has a nice weight to it. It feels very solid, unlike my Ecotools foundation brush. I have not had any shedding in this brush, and the ferule seems tight on the handle. This is the only foundation brush that has not shed on me, earning it huge points in my book.
APPLICATION
The reason I prefer duo-fibre brushes is because it gives you a natural, airbrushed finish. However, I sometimes get weird patterns on my face when I use a stippling brush. With this brush, there is some streaking. If you use little strokes, you get that amazing coverage and finish with absolutely no streaking.
FINAL OPINIONS
Of all the classic foundation brushes I have tried (including the MAC 190), this is the best one I have come across. The unusual shape and feeling of the bristles make it a very unique application. I think it has great build quality, a fabulous handle, and gives me the coverage I want. You can get the SS190 brush in their Complete Brush Kit at sigmamakeup.com. I really do love this foundation brush and recommend you give it a try if you are planning to get this set.
