The memory doesn't hold as many photos as it used to. If you find that the internal memory of your camera is holding fewer and fewer photos as time goes on, it is definitely time to think about getting a new camera.
Your camera is bigger than your teen's cell phone. A sure sign that you have an outdated piece of equipment!
The photos are constantly out of focus. This might be from the last few times your pre-teen dropped it on a concrete sidewalk, but it is still a good reason to upgrade to a new camera.
You don't have the features that you need. This is a very good and very common sign that you need a new camera. The newer models are far more versatile and have many more features. The zoom is better, auto-focus, etc.
You can afford it. Prices are much lower now than they were just a few years back. For half the price you paid for your old camera, you can get a brand-new, better version. This means there is really no reason not to get a new one!
You have too many photographers in the house. If you and your spouse as well as your children are all fighting over the camera that you already have, leave it to the kids and get a new digital camera for yourself! After all, you need it to take pics of the kids, right?
The battery case is broken. This doesn't mean the camera doesn't work, but let's face it, it is a pain in the neck to take photos while holding a broken battery door on! You get strained fingers . . . time for a new digital camera.
There are lots of reasons to get a new camera, but paying attention to the signs that it really is necessary will help you justify the new purchase to your spouse. Do you fit any of the above?
