Signs and Symptoms of Menopause

Many women wonder when menopause will start for them. They are curious as to what signs and symptoms they should be aware of for it. Menopause is also known as the change of life for a woman. Basically that means that Menopause is the time of life for a woman when her menstrual period stops. Normal ages for menopause to occur for a woman are usually between 45 and 55. There are many signs and symptoms of menopause.

Irregular Periods

Before a woman's menstrual period completely stops she will probably have irregular periods. This is the first sign that a woman is starting her menopause phase in life. An irregular period is when your period does not come on its regular monthly schedule. Sometimes it can skip months. It can also come twice in one month. It is just irregular.

Hot Flashes

Lots of women suffer from hot flashes and night sweats when they have menopause. An example of hot flashes is when a person feels really hot when everyone else in the room feels just fine. It comes on suddenly. Night sweats are usually when a person is sleeping, and they wake up drenched in sweat. You will feel very overheated.

Mood Swings

Another sign of menopause is having severe mood swings. It will be hard for you to control your feelings. You will be very bad-tempered, and you may not even know why. Try to have patience with yourself and others. Let people know that you have menopause so that they can understand you better.

Memory

You may suddenly find that you have lack of concentration. Your memory may begin to have problems. For example, you may walk into a room to get something, and then totally forget what you went in there for. This is another area where you should have patience with yourself. It is okay if you do not remember every single thing.

Other Symptoms

An additional symptom is that you may experience urine leakage especially when you cough, laugh, or sneeze. Wearing a panty liner might be a good option if you are experiencing this. You might notice that you have vaginal dryness. Also your bones might seem frailer. Try to have more calcium in your diet. Whatever your signs and symptoms of menopause are just remember that it will not last forever even when there are days that you think it will. Try to celebrate the new stage of your life.
