Ringing, humming or buzzing noise in the ear when no such noises are present are common signs of tinnitus. For some the sounds come and go while for others the signs of tinnitus are constantly present. You need to understand the signs of tinnitus and determine if you rally have tinnitus. Furthermore, you need to determine what type of tinnitus you have for it makes a big difference when trying to eliminate your tinnitus.
First you need to determine if you tinnitus is subjective or objective. If you hear sounds such as ringing or wheezing sounds and no else around you can hear those sounds then you have subjective tinnitus. If you hear ringing or wheezing sounds and a doctor that is diagnosing you also hears those sounds within you ear then you have objective tinnitus.
There are many different causes of tinnitus, only by defining what type of tinnitus you have you will be able to cure it. The location or say where you hear the sounds is also important. There is external ear tinnitus, middle ear tinnitus and nerve pathway tinnitus. The reason the location where you hear the sounds is as important as we go further into the ear there is more of a chance of infection, allergy or inner ear damage to exist. The location of where the sounds exist can define the type of tinnitus.
Type of sound is very important as well. Some people hear a continuous rhythmic pulse that coordinates with their heartbeat. If this is the case you are considered to have pulsatile tinnitus. This tinnitus is believed to exist do to erratic blood flow however this type is rare.
Most tinnitus sufferers have tonal tinnitus which is a "ringing in the ears" sound. The ringing may continuous or come and go. It may occur in just one ear or in both. One of the most common reasons this tinnitus is present with someone is because of exposure to unusual loud noises. Perhaps you went to a rock concert or you work on construction site and were exposed to consistent clanging noises all day. You ear man continues to ring for several hours afterwards. In most cases the ringing goes away, but for some there is no reasonable explanation why the ringing even exists to begin with nor does it go away.
