Signs that Your Weight Loss Program May Be Failing

Almost everyone would agree that weight loss programs are really difficult to follow let alone to complete. Sadly, there are a lot of people who engage in weight loss programs who fail in achieving their weight loss goals. There are some signs that may indicate that you are beginning to fail in your weight loss program. Based on my own experience, let me share some of them.

Weight loss programs have one common goal and that is, of course, to lose weight. However, if you are gaining weight instead of losing weight, there's probably something wrong in what you're doing or there's something external that affects what you are doing. Analyze your program and your daily routines and make sure to make proper adjustments.

If your clothes seem to be much tighter or if you're wearing the same dress size after working out for a month, it could be a sign that your program isn't helping you. Measure your body for reference. But of course, it is relative to the amount of weight you need to lose. If you are obese and if you've worked out for a full month and you still don't see improvements, not a single inch dropped or so, your weight loss program may be ineffective.

While working out, if you feel that your workout is extremely easy and weights do not seem to give you enough resistance anymore, it may be a sign that your workout is not effective anymore. It's true that you may be stronger. But if you need to lose more weight and you haven't reached your goal yet, you most likely need a much tougher workout. Increase the intensity of your cardio workouts, the weights you are using or the number of repetitions.

Another thing that I have observed is that if you do the same workout routine for a very long time, you tend to get bored. Thus, you may start to give less effort in doing your workout and as a result, you will probably see very little progress. This will adversely affect your schedule and time frame to reach your goal. Add some variety in your workouts. Aside from challenging your body, your workouts will become more interesting.

Now, I guess the worst sign that your program may be failing is procrastination. If you have a workout schedule and if you give in easily by telling yourself "I can do this workout tomorrow. I don't have to do it today." or something like "I'll eat this ice cream today and I'll just worry about tomorrow", you need to motivate yourself more. Come to think of it, it will affect everything else such as your schedule or time table, your progress, your drive and sometimes even your diet. You may be improperly compensating your workout by eating more. I always see motivation as the fuel of your weight loss program.

These signs may happen to you anytime during your weight loss program. If ever you notice these signs while you're in a weight loss program, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're already failing. But again, it could be the start of a total failure in your program especially if you just ignore these signs. The signs may worsen or they may stack up and could ultimately halt your weight loss progress significantly. There's a tendency to drop the entire program and believe me, it happened to me and it devastated me. But do not lose hope.
