Silence

Genie Walker
What's the answer?
That's what I used to seek.
Relentlessly, I searched.
Worrying about what I would find.
Scared that I wouldn't be enough.

Now as I grow older and have learned to pay attention.
Or at least paying closer attention than before.
I realize that I don't know the question.
I don't even know how many questions lurk outside my door.

That's why all my solutions have melted.
Glistening like icicles hanging off the roof on a warm day.
My solutions sparkled and shined like those deliciously cold icicles.
Then melted away in the heat of closer examination.
Icy prettiness turns into a slushy mud puddle.

I need not worry about questions or answers.
I just need to BE.
To stop each day to confirm my connection to the Creator.
Silence is my both my answer and my question.

Wrapping the comforting presence of Silent around me.
Fills me with peace.
I have no questions.
I have no answers.
Silence is ... Blessed.

You are SO right! I have the tendancy to worry about questions and answers all the time myself. I really need to "just BE" as well. I imagine that the worry that I would save myself by following your way of thinking in this poem would be well worth it. Very inspirational! Thanks!

Very nice! Unless I misread this, I believe you are saying that questioning our existence is something that has no real answer. A beautiful thought that is shared by the elders of my tribe.

I so agree with this. Questions have to be quietened down otherwise they take over our lives.
