Everyone has heard a Movie Critic. Rather you agree with them or not, you have heard them, you can't miss them, they are all over. They think that they can dictate to you if a movie is good or bad, and seem to know what your likes and dislikes are in movies. How many time's has a Movie Critic slammed a movie, and it wound up with great dollar numbers at the box office?
My feeling is; what gives them the right to tell me what I am going to like or dislike? It is purely their opinion, and I am sure we have all also heard the saying about opinions, they are like a body part, and everyone has one. Is there really a Movie Critic 101 course in college?
I am not sure about everyone, but I go to a movie to be entertained. I don't look in a movie as in depth as the critics do. I go to a movie not expecting much at all. That way if it is good, great, I enjoyed myself. If it winds up stinking, then I just lost a couple hours, big deal. Some may say with the price of a movie, it better be good. But think about it, in comparison to any other entertainment venue; is it really that far out of line? If you go to a game of any sport, there is no guarantee you will see a good game.
Every single actor and actress out there has had movie's they have been in that were not very good. Now some are very good actors, and most of their movies are very good. Everyone who enjoys going to the movies, has their own favorite actors, and they also have those who they do not enjoy.
Actors who seem to have a good movie every time they are in one, in my opinion, are Denzel Washington, and Morgan Freeman. I am sure there are a few more, but those two stick out in my mind at this time. One Actor who I absolutely hate is Will Ferrell. That is one man I just cannot stand. In every single movie, he plays the same whiny crybaby role where he has a fit. Now see, that is purely my opinion, just like the Movie Critics.
My interest in watching a movie comes from the preview. If it looks interesting, then I will try to go see it. Nothing a Movie Critic say's will determine if I see it or not. There are plenty of movies where the action, or good parts you saw in the preview was all there was in the movie, but that is a chance you take, just like in sporting events.
I say SILENCE THE CRITICS! Get rid of all of them so we can determine ourselves if we want to watch a movie or not. The paying movie patron is intelligent enough to decide if they want to watch a movie or not. But of course, if we got rid of the Movie Critic, I would have to write about something else, like, annoying people in the theater while you are trying to watch a movie. That is another article.
