Silent Art Auction Scheduled in February to Help Save Darfur

Kobina Wright
Artist, poet and writer, Kobina Wright, will host a silent art auction on Friday, February 2nd @ 7:30pm at the Embassy Suites, located @ 1325 East Dyer Rd. in Santa Ana, CA. Cost at the door is $20 and proceeds from winning bids will be donated to the Save Darfur Coalition (www.savedarfur.org).

The Save Darfur Coalition is a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, whose mission is to educate the public and pressure policy makers in different governments to step in and take action to assist the people of Darfur, Sudan and other affected regions who are being terrorized, raped and slaughtered at the hands of a government backed Arab militia called the Janjaweed.

Wright's intent in organizing this event is to not only increase public awareness because of the lack of US media coverage of these atrocities, but also to provide a venue and incentive to help people do something about it.

The cost at the door is $20, which will go towards covering the expenses of the event, while the awarded art bids will go directly to the Save Darfur Coalition. Separate donations can also be sent to Kobina Wright at P.O. Box 1894, Tustin, CA 92781.
