Silent auctions are a great way to bring in money during a fundraiser. Appeal to the book lovers in your community with these silent auction gift basket ideas.

The Book Lover Basket

This basket is designed for those who love to curl up with a good book at night. Include a box of hot cocoa or tea with a mug. You also need a bookmark and a book light. Include coupons and certificates to local bookstores.

The Romance Book Lover Basket

For those who love to indulge in romance novel reading, include a couple titles with some votive candles and bubble bath, so that she can enjoy reading while soaking in a hot bath.

The Mystery Book Lover Basket

Help a super sleuth tweak spying skills with this silent auction gift basket idea. Throw in a few classic mystery paperbacks. Add a magnifying glass and binoculars for spying, plus a pair of sunglasses and maybe a hat for disguise. Add a small notebook with a pen or an inexpensive voice recorder for note taking during a stakeout.

The Cookbook Lover Basket

Include a comprehensive cookbook, like The Joy of Cooking, or a collection of smaller, specialized ones. Add a subscription to a food magazine and some special cooking utensils. Throw in an apron and a chef's hat.

The Superhero Comic Book Lover Basket

Put in a collection of classic comic books about favorite superheroes. Add a few small figurines and perhaps costume pieces or masks. If there is a DVD version of a comic, put that in. Include a set of inks and paints with a sketchbook so that the comic book enthusiast can make his own comics.

The Adventure Book Lover Basket

Include a variety of adventure books about hiking, mountain climbing, deep sea diving, and world travel. Put in a water bottle and trail mix for a snack. Add a gift certificate to a local sporting goods store.

The Travel Book Lover Basket

Find a couple of stories about people traveling around the world, such as Under the Tuscan Sun. A mini atlas can inspire some travel plans. Throw in some phrasebooks in foreign languages, or a pocket translator. Add some small peanut packets and a mini can of soda, to be enjoyed as if one is riding on an airplane.

The Writer Basket

Many book lovers wish they could also be authors. They will require books on writing. Classics to include are Strunk & White's Elements of Style, Stephen King's On Writing, and Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life. Add a mini notebook or journal with a special pen or a small digital recorder to keep track of inspirational moments. Coffee is also a writer's friend, so find a cute mug to add with a bag of beans. Look for a replica of Snoopy sitting on top of his doghouse with a typewriter, or other inspirational character.

Silent auctions are a great way to bring in revenue during a fundraiser. These book baskets are sure to appeal to some of the attendees.
