Silent and Confused

Melissa Lawson
The sound of your voice, when you speak my name
Tortures my body -- drives me insane.
Each and every part of me
reacts to you too much.
Every atom in my anatomy
aches to feel your touch.

Why does this all seem so unreal?
Why must I hide the things I feel?
Insanity threatens the edge of my soul.
And seeing you threatens my sense of control.

Yet I hide behind my wall of fear,
Taking two steps back, when you come near.
The thing I fear the most
is what I need from you.
Yet I turn away, as you once did,
silent and confused.
