Silent Reverie

April Higney
Rain streaks in transparent lines
falling against the window pane
her eyes in quiet thought
drift alongside them
searching between,
reaching...
pushing aside the structures
with her mind,
of run down homes
that all seem to have been
created of the same blueprint,
her sight catching hold
of a flowering tree
her vision reading beneath it
and the eyes flow along
wandering into a valley
where wild berries and clover
play lightly in the wind
and a path of trees
opens
like a doorway
that captures her attentions.
She looks deeper in
with curiosity
at a horizon
that brings to her soul
a smile.
A deep breath of fragrance on the air,
silent reverie
as a soft mist graces her skin,
and she finds herself
standing beside the window again
fingers trailing
the blurring view
of where her heart has been.

This is one of my favorites. I love the last two lines. It projects such emotion.
